Rodney
“As I child I loved to watch dance movies and was particularly inspired by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers dance movies.
I get a big kick out of teaching people and enjoy nothing more than witnessing the ‘penny drops’ moment of new students. ”
Rodney is the other principal of FEET with Heat and first learnt to dance at the age of 12 after his parents enrolled in Rock’n’Roll dance classes in Christchurch – before he knew it he too was hooked on Rock’n’Roll dancing. The entire family was invloved at the club level and Rodney took on junior committee responsibilities and competitive Rock'n'Roll dancing in both juniors (under 18) and seniors (over 18).
Moving to Wellington in 1992 Rodney ventured out to other dance styles eventually competing in Ballroom and Latin American for a number of years. More recently, being the last 11 years learning a number of Swing dance styles.
Qualified as one of New Zealand’s first professional Rock’n’Roll and Jitterbug dance teachers under the New Zealand Federal Association of Dance Teachers Inc. (Rock'n'Roll) and the Australian Rock'n'Roll Dancesport Council Inc. (Lindy Hop / Jitterbug).
